Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michelle Sprott and Welcoming Committee Jan Tidd, Joe Szfarowicz, his wife Amy, Bud Crosby, his wife Dr. Mary Gombash, Margaret Day, and Carolyn Byersdorf along with Sylvania Township Fire Chief Mike Ramm, Jessica Jessing, Connor Hartnett, Kate Bernyk, Kelly, Bobby, and Karly Rachko, join Taylor Rachko, Distinctive Design & Storage Solutions owner and her dad Bob Rachko, Garage Floor Coating owner, to cut the ribbon.
Garage Floor Coating has moved from its longtime location on Centennial Road to Central Avenue and has added a new division to its home improvement and organization menu, Distinctive Design and Storage Solutions.
In 2008, owner Bob Rachko opened Garage Floor Coating – The Great Lakes, an independent, privately owned dealership of Garage Floor Coating.com, founded in 1996. His company specializes in floor coatings for garages plus other spaces including basements, patios, kitchens, car dealerships, factories, locker rooms and bathrooms. In 2014, his daughter, Taylor Rachko, joined him in the family business.
Today, Taylor Rachko manages the company’s new division, Distinctive Design and Storage Solutions, which focuses on organization systems for closets, pantries, garages, laundry rooms, mud rooms, entry ways and home offices. “We also design built-ins, media centers and basically any cabinetry you can think of except for the kitchen,” she explained.
The company has 12 employees who work at the combined business which is now located at 7944 W. Central Ave. and leased from Dan Kasper.
The new showroom features 2,000 square feet of flooring and cabinet displays. “We didn’t have a place for people to come to see and touch our products. We would bring samples to them. Now we have visual space for people to see all the choices we have,” said Rachko. “This new space has the best of both worlds with a warehouse and a front office.”
Rachko enjoys creating custom designed spaces for clients. “A lot of people don’t know what to do, so we come out and listen to their
needs. We take measurements and find out
what is their end goal,” she said. “Some people just want a basic system and others want a space to fit every single pair of shoes.”
