St. Jude’s Dream House under construction in Quarry Ridge

Work is progressing on the 2020 St. Jude’s Dream House under construction by Buckeye Real Estate Group at 8734 Howe Lane in the Quarry Ridge subdivision off Brint Road just west of Centennial Road. This is the company’s third dream home build and the first time a Dream House has been built in Sylvania. Each year, $100 tickets are sold to raise the much needed funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., founded in 1964 thanks to the efforts of Toledoan Danny Thomas.
According to Mike White, president of Buckeye Real Estate Group, over 45 dream homes are built around the country each year to raise funds for the organization. “It is only fitting that we build one here in tribute to Danny Thomas,” White said.

“I am so happy to be a part of this and to be able to help. I had the pleasure of visiting St. Jude’s in Memphis to see all of the great things they do. Patients and their families do not pay anything for the treatment they receive. Remarkable work is done there. Many of the medical breakthroughs concerning children and cancer are discovered there and shared with the rest of the medical community. It is an amazing place,” he added. “Helping with this home is the least I can do.”
According to White, he and his company donated the lot and he is overseeing construction, coordinating the subcontractors who are donating their labor and working with materials donated by a host of vendors. “The last two years, over $1 million was raised through the sale of tickets and we all take pride in being a part of that effort,” White added.
Ticket sales began on Thursday, May 14 and will continue until all are sold. The winner will be announced on Aug. 13.
The 2,750-square-foot four bedroom, two and a half bath home has a first-floor laundry, a two-story great room, a sunroom, spacious kitchen with a large island and granite countertops, and a wet bar. In addition there is a two-story entryway, a garage with storage space, and even custom built lockers.
The Buckeye Real Estate Group has designed and built homes incorporating the specific needs of each individual owner in Toledo, Sylvania, Perrysburg and the surrounding areas since 1994.
