The transition of summer to fall is a mighty splendid thing. The warm glow of changing leaves, the crackling of an outdoor fireplace, the aroma of freshly baked apple and pumpkin desserts are all ingredients of an autumnal feast for our senses.
When it’s time to bring those fall qualities into our homes, Jennie Lewis, creator of Found Our Haven, a home décor boutique specializing in vintage and handcrafted treasures, has the perfect recipe. “Open up those windows,” she exclaimed. “Let the fresh, crisp air and aromas waft through your haven.”
Skip the faux florals. Lewis urges you to, “Look to your backyard or the roadside for natural elements such as grasses, leaves and branches to incorporate into your arrangements. The best thing about them is that they’re free,” she smiled.
“Layer, layer, layer,” said Lewis. “Fall is all about lush layers, so pile on those pillows and
throws made from a variety of textures,” she added.
Fall is a naturally romantic season. “Set a cozy tone in your haven with a variety of candles, scented or unscented,” she suggested. “They bring a soft and inviting glow to your spaces.”
Pumpkins are not just for outdoor décor. “Mix them with your indoor décor,” said Lewis. “They look fabulous in displays with fresh flowers.”
Found Our Haven is located at 119 N. Ontario St. in downtown Toledo. Inside the boutique shoppers will find custom painted furniture, vintage and new treasures and handmade accessories such as pillows, aprons, tote bags and garlands.
