Margaux and Will Ford were thrilled to move to Sylvania to be closer to family, but there was just something missing … biscuits!
Margaux, originally from Toledo, and Will from Tennessee met while attending college in South Carolina. They were living in Tennessee when they decided to move north. “Where we were living you could find biscuits everywhere,” said Margaux Ford. “When we came to Toledo, biscuits were hard to find and we were really missing them.”

The couple decided to change that and began planning a new business, Trip’n Biscuits. The food truck specializes in sandwiches, meal plates, snacks and desserts, all starring their homemade biscuits. “My husband has wanted to open a food truck for about a year. He’s worked in the food industry for about eight years and had the opportunity to work on a food truck during the pandemic,” explained Ford. “We decided to open a food truck around Thanksgiving last year and it’s been full speed ahead ever since,” she added.
Trip’n Biscuits is scheduled to make its Sylvania Farmers Market debut in mid-July. “When we were talking about what to offer on our truck, we decided we wanted to have something that would carry throughout the entire menu, so we chose biscuits,” said Ford. “Everything is made from scratch, the biscuits, our pickles and our pimento cheese. Our sausage gravy is a family recipe, and one of my husband’s fondest memories is making it with his grandfather,” shared Ford.

Here is a sampling of what will be featured on the Trip’n Biscuits menu. The Out of Sight Biscuit Plate includes a buttermilk biscuit, sausage or mushroom gravy with the option to add a fried egg. Strawberry Fields Forever is a biscuit topped with strawberries, strawberry syrup, fresh whipped cream, balsamic glaze and fresh mint. Far Out Biscuit Sammies include the Blazed Chicken Sammie, fried chicken served hot or regular and topped with smoked gouda pimento cheese, sweet dill pickles and red onion. Sam’s Space Spuds are scratch-made cheesy tater tots. “They are fried goodness and then you bite in and it’s cheese and potatoes,” described Ford. Trip’n Biscuits also offers vegan and gluten-free items.

“We have a fun range of menu items and we want to keep expanding,” said Ford. “We both love to travel, especially internationally. We want to incorporate ideas from our travels into our food – kind of a modern twist on our biscuits.”
The Fords are committed to supporting local businesses and are working with local food companies including Pantless Jams, Maddie and Bella Coffee Roasters, Weber Ranch for eggs, and Ramge Acres for honey. “It’s important for us to use local products and give back to our community,” said Ford.
Most of the cooking will be done by Will, and Margaux will be on board talking with customers and taking orders. “Will has done most of the heavy lifting so far, but we’ve been enjoying working on this project together,” she explained.

In addition to the Sylvania Farmers Market, Trip’n Biscuits will be out and about in the community at breweries including Ernest Brew Works and other venues. “We’ll be all over,” said Ford. “I’m really looking forward to doing private events too and seeing people enjoy our food.”
“The response has been great with family and friends. I think the Blazed Chicken Sammie will be one of the most popular menu items,” said Ford. “We love Toledo, and we are so grateful that Toledo is so welcoming to food trucks. We are proud to live in this community.”
