The Ability Center of Toledo (ACT) was honored to be involved in the newest Toledo Metropark project, the Meadowview Accessible Play Area at Secor Park. The ACT Advocacy Program provided two support letters for funding for the accessible playground as well as helped to provide information on the needs of children with disabilities for the grant request. The play area has removed barriers for those with disabilities so that children of all abilities are able to play together. The playground manufacturer, GameTime, contributed $100,000 toward the first phase of the play area that celebrated its opening on June 21. The second phase, which will include additional play equipment thanks to a grant from the Ohio-based Lott-Conlon Foundation, will be implemented next year. The grant will also allow for shelter and restroom renovations.

Executive Director of the Ability Center, Tim Harrington, welcomes guests to the new play area.
