The ProMedica Flower Hospital Auxiliary is donating needed clothing and funding to the Flower Hospital Psychiatric Unit’s Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet contains casual clothing for patients on the psychiatric unit. Often patients arrive or depart without proper clothing attire. Items such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, athletic pants, sneakers, and socks are often needed for this patient population, according to Julie Kookoothe, Director of Psychiatry at Flower Hospital. The Auxiliary is donating clothing items from their Cozy Cottage Resale Boutique. Auxiliary members Pat Hilfinger, Marge Loshbaugh, Nancy Miller, and Barbara Baumgartner have been sorting through donated items to stock the closet with items that can be utilized to assist those in need.
In addition to donated items, clothing items also need to be purchased to meet certain sizing needs. The Auxiliary is donating $1,000 toward this need, and another $130 was collected at a dinner hosted by Executive Board Member Brian Hazel-Bahrs and Jeffrey Bahrs.
ProMedica Flower Hospital Auxiliary President Susan Kanwal is thrilled to be part of the project. “I am so happy that our group can assist with this need at Flower Hospital and will continue to help as needed with this important project,” she stated.
