Sylvania eateries prepare for Restaurant Week

Seven Sylvania area restaurants will participate in the 12th annual Restaurant Week Toledo which returns Feb. 28 through March 6. The event, presented by Libbey, celebrates the rich and diverse culinary scene in and around Toledo. This year Sylvania’s participating restaurants include: Balance Pan-Asian Grille, Charlie’s Homemade Ice Cream & Burgers, Ciao!, Inside the Five Brewing Company, Mancy’s Ideal, Poco Piatti and Rosie’s Italian Grille.

Restaurant Week encourages restaurant-goers to enjoy prix-fixe and unique menu items at some of the Glass City’s best locally-owned restaurants. A portion of the proceeds from every meal sold throughout the week benefits Leadership Toledo’s high-impact, tuition-free youth programs designed to cultivate and empower aspiring young leaders.

“We participate every year,” said Monica Drouillard, general manager of Mancy’s Ideal. “It’s good for the community, it’s good for our restaurant, and it brings new people in who haven’t been here before.” The restaurant plans to offer dining specials including braised short ribs and creamy polenta au jus topped with crispy onion straws.

First-time Restaurant Week participants Cindy and Steve Ursell, owners of Charlie’s Homemade Ice Cream and Burgers, are excited to offer a family-friendly option for the event. “We have three specials on our menu including our classic burger platter,” said Cindy Ursell. “We’re looking forward to introducing people who haven’t been here in a while or have never been here to what this Sylvania staple is all about.”

In addition to the Sylvania eateries, approximately 30 Toledo-area restaurants will participate. A list of all the restaurants and their offerings can be found at restaurantweektoledo.com and can be sorted by location, meal type, and takeout options. Reservations are encouraged where possible.

New this year, Restaurant Week Toledo is offering a mobile passport, courtesy of Destination Toledo. By signing up for the passport at restaurantweektoledo.com/passport, diners can view participating restaurants, their operating hours and locations, and menus. An interactive map feature allows restaurant enthusiasts to find participating locations nearby or plot where they want to go next.

“We are more excited than ever to bring Restaurant Week back in 2022,” said Anna Toney, executive director of Leadership Toledo. “This event is a great opportunity for community members to support local businesses who work so hard to make Toledo’s culinary scene vibrant.”
