The 2022 Cougarette Dance Team took home two first-place trophies at the state championship competition in Columbus on Feb. 26. They finished first in Large Pom and Large Jazz and second behind Toledo Central Catholic High School in Large Hip Hop. The Cougarettes last brought back a state championship in 2014. The Southview dance team includes Seniors Allison Hood and Samantha Zobrist, Juniors Paige Britton, Alli Freels, Sophie Golding, and Avery O’Loughlin, Sophomores Morgan Kwaitkowski, Ava Stoll, and Ashley Welt, and Freshmen Elise Gravelle, Carly Nusbaum, Bella Russen, and Ally Scharf. The team is coached by Lauren Gant Wilson and Emily Micsko Kreuz, both of whom were members of the Cougarettes 2011 to 2014 teams, winning state championships each year. Those teams’ first place honors included Jazz, 2011; Jazz and Pom, 2012; Jazz and Pom, 2013; and Hip Hop, 2014.
