
For the first time in school history, the Northview Wildcats baseball team was crowned state champions.
The Wildcats captured the State Championship on Saturday, June 11 defeating Grove City by a score of 6 -1 at the Akron RubberDucks’ Canal Park.
The team came from behind in the semifinal game on Friday, June 10 to defeat the Chagrin Falls Kenstion Bombers, advancing the Wildcats to the finals.
The team also set a record for season wins with 24 wins and eight losses for the first time in school history.
After defeating Clay in extra-innings in the district semifinal game, Northview faced a rematch with Perrysburg who had been victorious over the Wildcats twice during the regular season.
However, Northview came out on top and won the district and regional games beating Perrysburg and Cleveland St. Ignatius.
The Wildcats have a team batting average of .312 and a team earned-run average of 1.97.
