St. Clare, St. Francis awards to be presented at Franciscan Gala

St. Francis Awardee Chuck Ellison of the Brazos Valley in Texas is an attorney. He has been a member of the corporate integrity committee of St. Joseph Regional Health System since 2010. He currently serves on the boards of St. Joseph Health System and CHI Texas Division in Houston, a part of CommonSpirit Health.
St. Clare Awardee Diedra Lashley is a social worker by profession. Since 2013, she has been the executive director of Bethany House Toledo, a transitional shelter for victims and their children operating in Toledo since 1984.
St. Clare Awardee Pat Valdez has been a Sylvania Franciscan Associate for 18 years and has worked at Rosary Care Center for 23 years. She has participated in medical missions to Peru and to the Philippines.

Executive Director of Bethany House Toledo Deidra Lashley and Sylvania Franciscan Associate Pat Valdez will receive St. Clare Awards and attorney and member of the corporate integrity committee of St. Joseph Regional Health System Chuck Ellison will receive the St. Francis Award at the Sylvania Franciscan Gala on Saturday Sept. 24.

The event begins at 6 pm at the Sylvania Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd. and features gourmet food, dancing to the KGB Band, a wine pull, a gift card raffle and a silent auction. A live preview of auction items opens online Sept.19 and bidding begins on Sept. 21 at 7 pm. Bidding ends on Sept. 24 at 10 pm.

Honorary chairman Charles Kundschier is the great-great nephew of Sylvania Franciscan founder, Mother Adelaide Sandusky. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, will travel from Minnesota to attend the gala.
