It’s Children’s Wonderland time

For the second year, members of the Sylvania Police Department have decorated a tree for Children’s Wonderland. The theme of this year’s entry is ‘Sylvania cops and kids,’ highlighting all of the programs geared to Sylvania youth. Look for ornaments representing Public Safety Cadets, Safety City, DARE, Anti Bullying, Bike Safety and Seat Belt Safety. The ornaments of four Maplewood DARE students whose winning designs were chosen are Finn Forquer, Elena Kalpakidis, Molly Vogt and Riley Kerrigan.

Children’s Wonderland is open daily from 11 am to 8 pm and 11 am to 2 pm on Dec. 24, the closing day. The display, operated by Sylvania Recreation Corporation, is located at the Sports & Exhibition Center at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter, 7060 Sylvania Ave. The cost of admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children and seniors.

Dozens of classic exhibits will be on display, along with train rides and photo ops with Santa. Children’s admission includes train rides and entry into the Kid’s Zone.

This year an enhanced Kid’s Zone includes coloring, letters to Santa and more. A fee will be charged for the Mold-O-Matic Souvenir wax figure machines.

Mrs. Claus will be at Children’s Wonderland for the first time on Sunday, Dec. 18 for interactive story times with children. Private story time begins at 10:30 am with limited tickets; public story time will be held every two hours starting at noon to 6 pm.
