Change Makers Recognized by SACIC

On April 12 the Sylvania Area Community Improvement Corporation hosted their annual awards luncheon, recognizing a multitude of organizations that inspired growth and change in the Sylvania area. Each award winner was presented with a plaque honoring the recipient for either opening or moving their business in Sylvania, investing in improvements to their Sylvania business, or for their dedication as a non-profit in supporting impactful projects in the community.

Award winners included:

McGuire Insurance – Cathy McGuire & Betsy Davis, Fickwood Plumbing – Todd Woodward & Fred Fick, Taste – Colleen Barnhart, Five Lakes Church – Benton Cole & Pastor Micah Sutton, Adventus Climbing – Jamie Monaghan & Meredith Moran, Something Special 4 You – Jason Brown, Vine 2 Wine – Vera Wiskochil & Brooke Pilles, Fit 20 Sylvania – Kelly Wolf, Erin Ann’s Ice Cream – Erin Stampflmeier, Fifth Third Bank – Dave Koenig, STEM Center – Tom Burnworth, La-Z-Boy – Chris Durocher & Matt Simpson, Toledo Met – Carolyn Savage, Genacross Park – Lacy, Kozak, SAJRD – Mike McMahon & Brian Kezur, Lions Club – Deb Chany, Rotary Club – Diana Jacobson, Waffle House – Matthew Myers, Create Art Studio & Workshop – Deborah Lambdin, Kerry Wellstein & Kaylee Bancroft, Outdoor Sylvania Community Parks – Dan Marsalek & David Topoleski, City of Sylvania – Marcus Hansen, and Renhill Office Building – Jamiela Hutchens.

In addition to the annual awards, SACIC also awards grants each year supporting organizations that continue to invest back into Sylvania through projects that grow and support the community. This year’s grant applicants and recipients were Little Blessings Veteran and Community Outreach ($500), Neighborhood Bridges ($500), Red Bird Sylvania ($500), Sylvania Arts ($1000), the Sylvania Chamber ($1500), and YMCA/JCC ($1000).

SACIC is a non-profit organization representing a collaboration of business and government working to enhance balanced economic growth and the quality of life in the greater Sylvania area.
