Maude Salon and Spa, 5777 Monroe St. in the Promenade Shops, has added Japanese head spa services to its menu of offerings.

After two years in business, owners Shana Izworski and Penny Henderson decided to dedicate space to the new service, which focuses on scalp health and relaxation.

“This luxurious treatment is great for overall scalp health, promoting improved blood circulation and healthy, shiny hair,” Izworski said. “The treatment is also a stress reliever and is very relaxing.”

The Japanese head spa features its own water source, ensuring fresh water is used for each client. Izworski and three staff members have been trained to provide the service.

“Our new Japanese head spa provides another layer of service to our salon and spa offerings,” she said. “We are always eager to include meaningful and worthwhile options to enhance both regular and new client experiences.”

Since opening two years ago, the business has grown to include three nail technicians, two estheticians, 12 hair stylists and a massage therapist. “We do adhere to a work, life, balance philosophy, which our staff fully embraces and reflects in a positive manner shared with our clients,” Izworski said.

In addition to the new service, the salon offers a full range of hair, nail, skin and massage services, along with hair and skin care products. “Our salon and spa is welcoming, comfortable, and relaxing, and provides an environment in which our clients can relax and enjoy being pampered,” Izworski offered.

Hours are noon to 6 pm Monday, 8 am to 8 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 8 am to 4 pm Saturday.

The salon also hosts events, including makeup-focused gatherings, bridal parties, showers and birthdays. Food service is available through neighboring Georgio’s Grill.
Izworski, a licensed beautician, has spent much of her career managing luxury salons while continuing to work as a stylist. Henderson, a registered nurse, had been a longtime client of the former LaLuna Salon at the Promenade Shops location.

“When she learned the former owner was retiring, Penny called and asked if we could take over the salon,” Izworski said. “We did, and Maude was born.”

The name reflects a personal connection between the partners.

“Penny’s husband had jokingly referred to her as ‘Maude,’ and Maude would have been my child’s name if he had been a girl,” Izworski said. “When it came to naming our new venture, there was no other quite as suitable. And to top it all, ‘Maude’ means ‘empowered woman.’
