Woodland Lane ‘Cemetary’ to be Centennial fall feature

Some spooky fun is happening this year at Centennial Terrace during the last two weekends in October. Families of all ages can take a spirited walk through the ‘Woodland Lane Cemetary,’ from Oct. 20 through Oct. 22 and Oct. 27 through Oct. 30.  Hours are 5 to 10 pm on the two Fridays;  11 am to 10 pm, the two Saturdays; and 1 to 9 pm the two Sundays. Relationships flourish at Kingston Residence of Sylvania

“We really care about our people and their families,” noted Sherry Lake, RN.  She has been taking care of residents at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania’s skilled nursing center for the past 18 years. “Most of the nursing, nursing assistant, and rehabilitation staff have also been here for a long time. Highland Meadows Pool Director retires after 50 years

In 1973, the United States ended its involvement in the Vietnam War after the signing of the Paris Peace Accords; Secretariat became the first horse since Citation in 1948 to win the Triple Crown; the Alaska Oil Pipeline bill was passed allowing construction of the pipeline to access oil from the North Slope of Alaska; a Three-Day Weekend was put in place in the UK;  Queen Elizabeth opened the Sydney Opera House AND, even more important to many in Sylvania, Bill Geha began his 50-year-long career managing the Highland Meadows pool, making a significant impact on generations of children and adults.
