Sylvania’s annual party with a purpose, On Tap and Uncorked, heats up with a summer evening event set for Sept. 11 from 7 to 11 pm at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd. The event was moved to the outdoor venue to attract more attendees. “We’ve sold out the past three years, so we needed to find something larger to accommodate all of the interest for our fundraiser. Centennial Terrace is a big venue and we’ll be able to grow our event there in the future,” explained Dottie Segur, executive director of Sylvania Area Family Services (SAFS). “We have sold 430 tickets to date and we hope to reach 600,” she added.
Each year, funds raised from On Tap and Uncorked are used to support SAFS’s community programs and services. “We rely heavily on our fundraisers to be able to offer vital services. Our need is even greater in 2021 and our goal is to raise $50,000, an increase from $34,000 in 2020,” said Segur.
Among services offered through SAFS are a weekly food pantry and monthly personal care item distribution for those in need throughout Lucas County. The organization’s youth diversion program helps to exonerate first-time youth offenders. Other programs include classes on parenting and senior health and nutrition, summer camp for children in kindergarten through age 6, a senior commodities program, a school supplies and backpack distribution project, and assistance for families during the holidays for food and gifts.

During On Tap and Uncorked, guests can dance the night away to the music of The Bradberries. Appetizers will be provided by the ProMedica catering department along with several area eateries. A selection of wines will be available and a variety of craft beers will be offered from three local breweries, Buffalo Rock Brewery, Inside the Five and Upside Brewing.
Chrys Peterson and Michael Seay will host the evening’s festivities. Guests will have the opportunity to have their picture taken in a photo booth and test their luck with a wine pull. Live and silent auctions will also take place featuring gift baskets and donations from many local businesses. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held at Tam-O-Shanter.
Sponsors for the event include Church 3 Twenty One, Arrow Print and Copy, Pamela Ulrich, Maguire Insurance, Jimmy Quigley, State Bank, Chandler Café, Jim Scheib, Dr. Philip & Alicia Kallile, Premier Wealth Management Group, SJS Investment Services, Maumee Valley Movers, The Lakes of Sylvania, Reeb Funeral Home, Sharee Youssef’s Guardian Angels Home Health Care, Buckeye Broadband, VZN Group, GenoaBank, ProMedica Flower Hospital Auxiliary, Farmers & Merchants State Bank, ProMedica, Skylight Financial Group, Anderson/Miller Insurance, Danberry Realtors Allyson France, Toledo Memorial Park, The Krueger Family, Sophia Center, Brightz Ltd., Candy & Bob Sturtz, Beautiful Blooms by Jen, Meijer Central Ave., Stapleton Insurance Group, Act Systems Ltd., Durocher’s, David & Judith Puckett, Modern Floors, Edward Jones Lori Cannon, Sylvania Moose Lodge #1579, Kingston Residence of Sylvania, Sylvania Lions Club, Walker Funeral Homes and Chick-fil-A.
