As we take time to enjoy this holiday season, I am sure many of us will also take time to reflect and appreciate the many gifts on our life’s journey. I am sending a special thank you to our parents/guardians for having faith in the Sylvania Schools, and more importantly, I thank you for trusting us with your most valuable treasure … your children. Your children come through our school doors with strong values, respect and kindness. Thank you for your commitment to ensuring their success and, in turn, our success.
As we close out 2022, I’m reflecting on and grateful for the many ways the community supports Sylvania Schools. The buildings are full of creative and talented students, and they thrive because of our educators, support staff and families. Our partnerships with local businesses and organizations provide authentic experiences for these students as they navigate their individual academic pathways.
It is hard to imagine a household in this community that isn’t somehow connected to the public schools. Our school district has nearly 1,000 employees that serve, educate and support nearly 8,000 students on a daily basis. Together, the Sylvania Schools educate, empower and inspire students to reach their full potential as lifelong contributors to a global society.
As Superintendent, I have witnessed countless examples of Sylvania residents demonstrating generosity through their time and energy. Thank you to those who engage through strong community service and partnerships. Your support for our schools brings opportunities that take us beyond our expectations.
Thank you to our school professionals for the commitment that you make every day to the students of Sylvania. I thank you for your dedication to educational and organizational excellence. I thank you for striving to meet every expectation that we’ve set for the district. Thank you for your ongoing professionalism and cooperation.
I truly believe the success of our community — today and tomorrow — depends on the success of the school system as we provide Excellence through Opportunity. It is a pleasure to be a member of the community and work in such an elite district. I am so thankful for being a part of the Sylvania Schools Community, and I look forward to serving its students and families for years to come.

On behalf of the Sylvania Board of Education and Administration, I wish everyone a happy holiday season. I send you best wishes for a holiday filled with family, friends, love and laughter!
With sincere gratitude and pride,
Dr. Veronica Motley
Superintendent
