Glass City Marathon partners renew; elite runners return

The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon has renewed partnerships for the 46th RRCA National Championship Marathon on April 23 with long-time sponsors PNC Bank, Dave’s Running Shop and Toledo Metroparks.

In conjunction with PNC, Dave’s Running Shop is providing official pacers for the half marathon and marathon events. These pacers are free for participants to use and will be staged at various places in the start corrals and provide accurate pacing services to any runner looking to complete the race in a particular time. Dave’s will again provide the official training programs of the Glass City Marathon with focuses on the marathon, half marathon and 5k distances. These programs run from January 2023 to April 23. Information can be found online at davesrunning.com. Dave’s will also provide official merchandise at the expo, event timing services on race day, as well as providing access to its event management company, Run Toledo Inc., which manages all aspects of the event throughout the year.

Toledo Metroparks provides access to Wildwood Metropark for use on several miles of the marathon course, placement of multiple water stops, and a relay exchange point.

Additional sponsorship and partnership opportunities are available on several levels. Interested businesses can visit glasscitymarathon.org.

Registration is open and links can also be found on the website for anyone wishing to compete in any of the race distances. Nearly 2,500 runners have already registered and over 7,000 registrants are expected by race day. Elite runners from around the nation including several past winners of this Toledo Roadrunners Club event will participate.

Over 40 states and five countries were represented at last year’s event. These numbers are expected to increase due to the commitment of local partners like Mercy Health, Owens Corning, North Star BlueScope, Savage and Associates, Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo, PNC Bank, Dave’s Running Shop, Toledo Metroparks, University of Toledo, TARTA, and Destination Toledo.
