Rick’s City Diner open for dinner

University of Toledo Basketball team members Ben Wright, Javan Simmons, Sonny Wison, Xavier Thomas, RaHeim Moss, Tyler Cochran, and Andre Lorenstsson serve customers on the opening night for dinner service at Rick’s City Diner.

Experience what’s new at Rick’s City Diner from menu items to extended hours and even a new general manager. For the past 11 months, Aubrey Congioloso has been working side-by-side with owner Rick Salem, to implement the many changes.
According to Congioloso the biggest news is the addition of dinner service along with the addition of a well-stocked bar for adult beverages. “Our ‘spirit’ offerings include seasonal drink specials, my signature strawberry margarita, Bloody Marys and bottomless mimosas. Beer and wine specials vary daily. Who wouldn’t want to start his or her day with an Eggs Benedict accompanied by a Bloody Mary on the patio?” Congioloso asked. “Our outdoor patio is open from May through October weather permitting, with live music every weekend. Local artists and their bands can call to get on the schedule for next year.”
“There are all kinds of comfort foods on the dinner menu such as the things your mother used to serve,” Salem pointed out. Diners can choose from a selection of meatloaf, shepherd’s pie, goulash, mac and cheese, hot roast beef and turkey sandwiches, mashed potatoes and gravy to name a few. There are at least 10 different dessert items including homemade pie and cheesecake.
The breakfast and lunch menu also has a different look, featuring a selection of new omelet combinations that Salem adopted from his favorite eateries in northern Michigan.
“Extending our hours was a well-thought out plan. We want to offer everyone a place of comfort, a place where families can come together around the table for a meal that their mama or grandma would prepare. And we did just this … offering great food and exceptional service,” Congioloso said.
Along with all the other innovations, there are new hours as well. Customers can enjoy thir favorite comfort food and a piece of homemade pie for dessert Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 8 pm. Breakfast and lunch will still be served as usual Tuesday through Sunday from 7 am to 2 pm. Rick’s is closed on Monday.
“Although the menus have changed and the dinnerware is new, we still provide the best service in the city. When customers come in, they are greeted by name. We know your kids, grandkids, and your story. You become our family,” Congioloso stated.
“And a big thanks to our staff for making all of this possible. Their hard work and dedication to me and to Rick and this establishment is a key factor is making this all possible,” she added
