Brick House Commons open for special events

Jessica and her brother, Matthew Wiciak celebrate their mom, Suzanne Crawford’s birthday at Brick House Commons.

“My brother and I did not have a lot of time to plan a birthday party for our mother, so we were more than pleased with all of the help we were given when we booked Brick House Commons for her event,” offered Jessica Wiciak. “Everyone was so easy to work with and made this an easy party to host. And the food selections were certainly crowd-pleasing, especially the famous Sidelines’ Fowl Balls that my brother loves.”
According Eric Sitter, one of the three owners of The Sidelines Catering Group., Wiciak’s sentiment is shared by others who have discovered the many advantages Brick House Commons has to offer.
“Whether you need a fully catered event, a small room to hold a meeting or an event space for your wedding, a shower, or party, we have you covered. Brick House Commons is one of our two rental halls, located at 3535 N. Holland Sylvania Rd. in Sylvania Township,” he said.
“Guests can choose food from three of our different restaurant concepts including quality sports bar food from Sidelines Sports Eatery & Pub, a variety of Italian cuisine from Sidelines Italian Grille, and premier Kansas City Style BBQ from Smokehouse 734. There is something for every taste palate.” Sitter noted.
Those who book their event at Brick House Commons are allowed to bring their own desserts along with beverages, including alcohol, only at Brick House Commons and bartending service is provided. Soda, coffee and tea are provided as part of the hall fee at both event venues.
Up to 120 guests can be accommodated and low top along with bistro-style tables can be selected. A Bluetooth sound system is in place and several large flat screen televisions are also available which are perfect for entertainment or for presentations during meetings. Parking is convenient with overflow accommodated behind the building.
Sidelines Catering also offers delivery right to events, for a small fee, up to 25 miles. This includes set-up, on table and serving utensils, single-use plates, plastic ware, and napkins, available for .50 per set. For an additional fee, the catering team will stay and tend the buffet during the event.

Brick House Commons decorated for an intimate wedding reception.

All of the same services are available at the company’s second event venue, The Yard, located at 8040 Summerfield Rd., Lambertville, Mich. This is a full liquor licensed facility and is a cash/card bar. “The Yard can accommodate up to 150 people at this indoor/outdoor facility and is in a beautiful location complete with outdoor fire pits and many yard games,” Sitter pointed out. Brick House Commons and The Yard are open for events seven days a week.
The three owners have been doing business together for the last 24 years. One of the partners, Chris Etts was Sitter’s childhood friend and introduced him to Jerry Edmondson. All three became friends as they played softball together.
During college, Sitter worked in the bar and restaurant business, while Etts and Edmondson formed another business. However, when a bar became available for sale in Lambertville, the three saw an opportunity to join forces and work together to open their first pub and eatery. They opened their first Sidelines Sports Eatery & Pub in 2000, and that concept has grown to seven Sidelines in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, their most recent opening located in Perrysburg.
Sitter shared, “Sidelines is known locally for its sports-themed, friendly, fun atmosphere and high-quality food not usually found on other ‘sports bar’ menus. In addition to the Fowl Balls, our menu includes salads, burgers, award-winning ribs, steaks and many other options. All of the beef, chicken and pork is hormone-free and responsibly-raised,” he added. “We like to be considered the neighborhood pub … a place friends and families can regularly gather to eat great
food, enjoy each other’s company and experience first class service. We also have trivia nights at several of our locations, which are always a big hit,” Sitter said.
“To book your next special event, you can call the Sidelines Catering Coordinator at 419-260-6610 or email sidelinesrestaurants@gmail.com. And of course, to view the menu options and photos of the rental spaces, visit sidelinescatering.com. Not in the market for catering or hall rental? Visit any of the Sidelines Restaurant Group locations for good food, cold drinks, and great fun!” he promised.

Guests enjoy the outdoor seating area of The Yard.
