A little less than two years ago Kathy Calamunci fulfilled a long-time dream of hers by opening a gourmet cookie bakery. Cookiecuterie, located at 6801 W. Central Ave., was Calamunci’s original idea based on creating cookie arrangements in the style of the popular meat and cheese charcuterie boards.
Since opening in August of 2022, Calamunci has increased her staff to 10 employees and added more delicious options to her cookie menu. Calamunci does most of the baking herself and offers about 20 styles on weekdays and around 30 on weekends. “I like to have a variety of cookies available, and I rotate them throughout the week,” she said.
Half of Cookiecuterie’s business comes from special orders for events such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and proms. Their signature cookie trays include a mix of custom frosted sugar cookies to coordinate with the event plus an assortment of other gourmet cookies. The other half of business comes from counter sales.

Calamunci’s cookies are from original recipes handed down by family or created from customers’ suggestions. “Some of the traditional cookies I bake often are chocolate chip, frosted sugar, lemon ricotta, cheesecake graham with raspberries or salted caramel, and blueberry lemon. We also offer holiday and seasonal cookies and are making custom macarons for various occasions such as hearts, shamrocks, flowers and even bats for Halloween. I’m always looking for fun and trendy ideas to incorporate into my menu,” she explained.
Cookiecuterie is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm, Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.
Calamunci is looking forward to participating in the upcoming Toledo Farmers Market Flower event over Memorial Day weekend and the annual Sylvania Fall Festival.
