Cleaning the world, one refill at a time …JAWS expands product line for a sustainable future

The Canberra leadership team Bruce, Chris, and Chase Yacko, and Sean Melvin display their consumer line of JAWS products.

Canberra Corporation is taking bold strides in the cleaning industry. “We are identifying market needs and fulfilling them with cleaning products that are right for household and commercial surfaces, the people who use them, and the environment,” said Bruce Yacko, CEO of Canberra Corporation and head of JAWS International, Ltd., a division located at 3610 N. Holland Sylvania Rd. Yacko’s leadership has fueled the expansion of JAWS (Just Add Water System), an innovative cleaning solution tackling both environmental challenges and everyday cleaning needs.

The JAWS line of consumer products.

A mission to revolutionize cleaning
JAWS International is on a mission: delivering safer, highly concentrated cleaning solutions in compact, child-resistant cartridges. At its core is the patented JAWS® (Just Add Water System), designed to drastically reduce packaging waste and conserve resources needed to manufacture and ship traditional spray cleaners. This eco-conscious approach not only meets the demands of modern homes but also reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Initially rooted in the commercial cleaning sector, JAWS revolutionized how janitorial crews worked by offering portable, concentrated refills. These easy-to-carry cartridges minimized waste and maximized efficiency, proving indispensable in settings like hotels, offices, and restaurants. Inspired by this success, JAWS introduced a consumer-friendly version, empowering households to clean smarter, safer, and more sustainably.
Durable design meets everyday convenience
The JAWS system includes a reusable, heavy-duty bottle, high-quality sprayer, and JAWS patented refill pods (cartridges). Unlike traditional spray cleaner bottles, the JAWS bottle is built to last, significantly reducing the billions of single-use plastic bottles discarded annually. The process is simple: fill the bottle with water, insert a concentrated refill pod, twist on the sprayer, and tighten to mix. When the bottle is empty, users can easily repeat the process, eliminating waste and saving money.
Recognizing that traditional cleaning products are mostly water; JAWS shifts this paradigm by enabling users to mix concentrated cleaners with tap water at home. This approach lightens shipping loads, reduces freight emissions, and aligns with modern sustainability goals.
A formula for success
Since entering the consumer market in 2014, JAWS has prioritized excellence in formulation. Products are designed to clean modern surfaces effectively, from granite and stainless steel to glass and porcelain. The company’s commitment to safety and performance is underscored by its participation in the EPA’s Safer Choice Certification Program, ensuring its cleaners are safe for people, pets, and the planet. Most JAWS products proudly carry the Safer Choice label, with others in the certification process.
This dedication has earned JAWS recognition as the EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year in both 2023 and 2024. Customer feedback underscores their success, with 65% of online sales coming from return buyers.
New Products, Big Impact
JAWS continues to innovate with recent product launches:

Looking ahead: 2025 and beyond

The new retail displays require
minimal shelf space.

JAWS has ambitious plans including new formulas that meet Safer Choice standards and innovative delivery systems. With manufacturing capacity exceeding 100 million cartridges per year and over 170 million cartridges sold to date, the company is gearing up for global expansion. Retail strategies include new shelf presentations, more JAWS products on retail shelves, and new instore displays to engage consumers and save shelf space.
“We’re re-entering retail with a renewed focus,” Yacko explained. “Our bottles will now be sold as ready-to-use, with refill cartridges displayed adjacent and available to purchase individually. This lowers the entry price for new customers and provides flexibility in how many refills they buy.”
Local retailers Sautter’s and Churchill’s are already carrying JAWS’ product line. In 2025, we will be going to market in a big way as we work to expand globally.
