It took over three years, but this past August, Amber Monica and her husband Charles were finally able to purchase the Russ’ Car Wash, located at 3127 Plainview Dr. Since the change in ownership, the building has been transformed inside and out. A freshly painted exterior houses all new car wash equipment.
“We both have a history with Russ’ Car Wash. My mother was the general manager for years, and I started working for the company when I was 15 years old. Charles worked there for 15 years before the company was sold,” Mrs. Monica pointed out. “And he has been detailing cars ever since,” she added.
“We both have tremendous respect for the way the company was operated before it was sold. We didn’t want the legacy that began in 1948 to die out, so we kept the name and have instituted many of the same practices that have been synonymous with Russ’ Car Wash,” Monica reported. “We live up to our motto, ‘Keep it clean! Keep it local!’ Not only are we locally owned, but we also do things the way they have been done since the original Russ’ Car Wash operated. We use premium soaps and waxes, de-bug by hand, and hand-prep each vehicle before the wash and rinse cycles. Then we towel-dry each vehicle by hand,” he added.
In addition to the personal service, the Monicas offer a variety of packages: the basic, a high pressure pre-wash, lava foam pre-soak and high pressure rinse for $8, or monthly unlimited at only $21; the super, a basic car wash, triple shine foam wax, underbody wash and wheel bright for $13 or monthly unlimited for $31; and the Works, with a super wash, gloss boss tire shine, and Russ X ceramic coating for $18 or unlimited monthly for $40.
Customers can also enjoy a special Works half-price on “Super” Mondays or a $5 Basic Wash or a $12 Works on “Wacky” Wednesdays.
“We are also easy to access from Holland-Sylvania or McCord roads by turning on Blossman Road to Plainview Drive or from Central Avenue, turn north on Wilford Drive to Plainview Drive,” he explained.

Always loved Russ’ car wash. But the thing I loved the most was the inside-out wash. You got out of car, the attendants vacuumed the floor and cleaned the windows all while car was rolling down the line. Do you still do that ???
