Owners Ken and Laurie Krieg are preparing to welcome the community to their new K&L Floor Covering showroom with a grand opening celebration from 4 to 7 pm on Feb. 19 at 5809 Monroe St., adjacent to MyWay Lounge and Marino’s Beverage Depot in the Sylvania Market Square.
The event will feature prize drawings, special activities, and a major giveaway that reflects the company’s hands-on approach to flooring solutions.
“We have all kinds of exciting activities planned with some really good prizes,” Ken Krieg said. “In fact, we are giving away a room of flooring as the grand prize. We’re inviting people in the community to come to our new showroom so we can introduce our products and show them what we do.”
The new retail location marks a significant milestone for the Kriegs, who have spent more than two decades building their reputation in the flooring industry. For the past 26 years, the couple has supplied builders, contractors, and home remodelers with a wide range of flooring and tile products.
“We were encouraged to open a retail location where we could offer the same high-quality products directly to homeowners,” Krieg said. “When we found this available space in this busy shopping plaza in the heart of Sylvania, it just made sense to open our showroom here.”
Visitors to the K&L Floor Covering showroom will find an extensive selection of flooring and tile options designed to meet both aesthetic and practical needs. Among the highlights is a broad collection of MSI tile products, ranging from mosaic backsplashes to floor tile and floor-to-ceiling porcelain shower systems.
“One thing that really sets us apart is that we don’t just sell flooring,” Krieg said. “We also offer a wide range of tile products, and we have experienced installation teams for every type of job.”
In addition to tile, the showroom features a variety of waterproof flooring options, including luxury vinyl plank products from brands such as Homecrest, Audacity, and AquaLok. Customers can also explore engineered wood flooring from Hallmark, Johnson, and Bella Cera, along with carpeting selections from the Dream Weaver Collection, Mohawk EverStrand, Shaw Industries Builder Flooring, Heartland Flooring, and other manufacturers.
While the product selection is extensive, Krieg said customer service remains the company’s strongest asset.
“We are a family-owned business, and our name is on the door,” he said. “Every job has to be done correctly. I’m involved in every transaction, no matter how large or how small. I check on jobs as they are being installed, and I follow up with customers when the work is complete.”
Krieg’s connection to this business began while he was a student at the University of Toledo and worked in the flooring industry. “I just never left,” he said with a laugh.
He credits a chance encounter early in his career with helping to shape the future of the business. While on their honeymoon in Fort Lauderdale, the Kriegs struck up a friendship with a Toledo builder, an introduction that eventually became a key professional relationship helping to grow the business.
“That one encounter became our cornerstone,” Krieg said. “It helped us build a strong network of contacts, and that network is what really launched our company.”
With the opening of the Monroe Street showroom, the Kriegs say they are excited to serve homeowners directly and to become an even more active part of the Sylvania business community.
“We’re proud of where we’ve come from,” Krieg said, “and we’re looking forward to welcoming people into our showroom and helping them create spaces they’ll love.”
