March – the month of the ides, St. Patrick’s Day, and the long-awaited arrival of spring – will bring yet another fresh start: the launch of the 10-month Sylvania Scavenger Hunt.

The communitywide adventure is made possible through Gayleen Gindy’s collection of 250 photos featuring iconic Sylvania-area landscapes. The scavenger hunt is one of the many events planned as part of Sylvania’s celebration of America 250.

Beginning March 1, view the first set of 25 pictures at heritagesylvania.org/sylvania250. Participants will have the entire month to explore Sylvania and Sylvania Township, identify each landmark, and answer accompanying questions. Some locations may be easy to recognize; others could require a bit more detective work. All photographed sites are located within the city of Sylvania or Sylvania Township, with a few exceptions that will be noted.

Entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm on the final day of each month. All 25 questions must be answered to complete an entry, and participants are encouraged to make their best guesses when unsure. Answers should be as specific and detailed as possible.

The first participant to submit a 100 percent correct entry for March will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. Additional prizes will be announced in the coming months.

All entries, whether fully correct or not, will be included in a grand prize drawing at the conclusion of the Sylvania Scavenger Search in December.
