NLL Champs… Again!

The McCord eighth grade girls basketball team, Front Row (L to R:) Adelyn Rozek, Maeve Montrie, Willow Harvey, and Maci Mendenhall; Back Row (L-R): Coach Doug Downing, Kennedy Patten, Mallory McClain, Kara Soltman, Karli Newsome, and Ashley Bartlett, won the NLL championship. The team finished their second season as an undefeated team. Coach Downing noted the team has a 37-0 record over its seventh and eighth grade seasons, winning the NLL title both years. In seventh grade, the team defeated Napoleon middle school for the championship. This year, the eighth grade tournament consisted of winning a quarterfinal game against Fassett Middle School on Feb. 7, then a semifinal game against Perrysburg Middle School on Feb. 10, and finally a championship game, once again defeating Napoleon, on Feb. 12.

Sylvan spelling champ

Sylvan Elementary School fifth grade student Aaliyah Joseph won the school Spelling Bee between the fourth and fifth grade students. He will participate in the upcoming Toledo Blade’s Regional Online Qualifier Bee.
