A stellar field competes in the Dana LPGA Open

The Dana Open presented by Marathon will feature 15 of the top 20 players on the 2022 LPGA money list who have committed to play in the upcoming tournament, Sept. 1-4, at Highland Meadows Golf Club.

“The field for this year’s tournament is fantastic,” stated tournament director Judd Silverman. “We have all five major championship winners in our field this year. They include: Min Jee Lee, U.S. Women’s Open Champion, Brooke Henderson, Evian Champion, Jennifer Kupcho, Chevron Champion, In Gee Chun, KPMG Champion, and Ashleigh Buhai, Women’s Open Champion. In addition we have Lexi Thompson, Danielle Kang, Lydia Ko, Stacy Lewis, Leona Maguire and defending champion Nasa Hataoka,” he said.

“We’re fortunate this year to be in a great spot on the LPGA schedule,” Silverman pointed out. “There have been many years where we’ve had nine straight tournaments ahead of us, but not this year. After a two-week break following the Women’s British Open only the Canadian Women’s Open will be ahead of us and that’s having a very positive impact on our field. I’m really happy for our sponsors and loyal fans. With the overall strength of this field they’re going to be in for a great four days of golf.”

Two top players the tournament is still hoping to attract are Jin Young Ko (world #1) and Nelly Korda (world #3). “Jin Young Ko has never played in Toledo,” Silverman added. “She is so talented. It would be great to have her in the field. If we could get Jin Young and Nelly’s commitments there’s no doubt this would be the strongest field we’ve ever had.”

The tournament will also include LPGA Hall of Fame member Juli Inkster and former tournament champion Paula Creamer who have also committed to play.

“To have both Juli and Paula in the field is a real bonus,” Silverman noted. “Juli is an amazing player and person. She’s accomplished so much throughout her career, both as a player and a three-time captain of the U.S. Solheim Cup team. This will be Paula’s first tournament back after delivering her first child last year. Always a crowd favorite, it will be fun to have Paula in the field.”

All of the net proceeds from this year’s Dana Open presented by Marathon will benefit 20 northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan children’s charities.
