Road work ahead…

Along with the Ides of March, there will be some serious road construction beginning in the middle to the end of that month depending on the weather.
•Altara Drive between Gillingham and Brainard roads will be reconstructed. Access to all residential driveways will be maintained as the road, sewers, waterlines, and catch basins are reconstructed during the five- to six-week project.

•Monroe Street/Silica Drive Improvement and Silica Bridge Replacement projects will also begin mid to late March and last through October. During Phase 1 construction, traffic will be limited to one lane westbound on Monroe Street from Main Street to Silica Drive from March through July. Eastbound Monroe Street traffic will be detoured to Mitchaw Road, Sylvania Avenue, Holland-Sylvania, and Harroun roads.

During Phase 2 construction, the Silica Drive bridge will be opened to traffic and Monroe Street will be limited to one eastbound lane between Silica Drive and Main Street from August through October. Westbound Monroe Street traffic will be detoured to Harroun Road, Holland-Sylvania Road, Sylvania Avenue, and Centennial Road.

An arrival and dismissal plan for Northview traffic has been developed for students and faculty and access to Anchor Church will be maintained at all times during construction. More details regarding detours and traffic will be available in the First March issue.

In May, construction is anticipated to begin on the Monroe Street/Harroun Road Safety Improvement Project and be completed by October. The traveling public should anticipate lane restrictions on Monroe Street in both directions during the different phases of construction.
This summer Brint Road is scheduled to be resurfaced from Centennial Road to Ten Mile Creek and from Silica Drive to the railroad tracks. Traffic will be maintained, complete with flaggers, during daytime paving operations.

The Lucas County Engineer will be constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Brint Road and Centennial Road this spring. A 45-day closure will be required.
