Thoughts of opening an ice cream shop began swirling around Erin Stampflmeier’s head about 10 years ago when she and her husband, Scott, could not believe there wasn’t one already in downtown Sylvania. When the building their family owns next door to Scott’s business, Sylvan Studios, became available, the Stampflmeier’s followed their dream and opened Erin Ann’s Homemade Ice Cream and Juices in November 2022.

Located at 5661 Main St., Erin Ann’s offers a variety of treats for food conscious folks such as ice cream, cold pressed juices, smoothies, smoothie bowls and baked goods. “We have vegan, dairy free and gluten free options for people with food allergies. Our kitchen is celiac safe too,” said Stampflmeier.”

Stampflmeier’s focus for the shop is to be completely transparent with the ingredients that go into her recipes. “So many people avoid eating out because they don’t know what’s in the food. They’re afraid they are going to be sick afterwards,” she explained. In addition, she is passionate about using organic fruits and vegetables from local sources.

Among offerings at Erin Ann’s is the ice cream which Stampflmeier makes on-site. Flavors available are seasonal and rotate with delicious combinations such as Blueberry Lemon and Chocolate Raspberry. Cold pressed juices, made by Stampflmeier’s mom, Sharon Duvall, are a hit in fresh flavors such as Strawberry Rhubarb and Green Monster, a sweet green juice. Smoothies are available in 8 ounces or 16 ounces in irresistible flavor combinations including Creamsicle, Pink Dreamin,’ and Purple Power. “We have two main types of smoothie bowls, acai and dragon fruit, and we can make any of our smoothies into bowls,” she explained.

Erin Ann’s also offers coffee, avocado toast, handmade pastries, baked goods, jams and chocolates provided by local small businesses – Vegan Taste, Plants On Tap, Cake Library, Crunchy Mama’s Bakery, Pantless Brands, and Harvest Chocolate.

The Stampflmeiers stay busy with two businesses and three young children – Michael age 9, Madison age 6, and Melanie age 3. “I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for the past 10 years, plus we home school our children. We make our schedule flexible with what we have going on. We have a great team of people who are able to help with just about everything. Plus it’s nice to have Scott next door, he helps with a lot of the behind the scenes work.”

Stampflmeier said, “We are excited for this summer and excited for all the events that are happening downtown.” She plans to start offering soft serve ice cream, creative sundaes, and grab and go items such as hummus and vegetables.

Chia Seed Pudding

Since opening, Stampflmeier explained she’s had a lot of people come in who have kids who have never had a waffle cone. “Now they can, and it’s so nice to be able to accommodate them. Watching a parent tell their children that they can have anything they want in the case is very rewarding.”
