Sylvania Fall Festival to be held in downtown Sylvania

The 37th annual Sylvania Fall Festival, presented by the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held in downtown Sylvania Saturday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 10 pm and Sunday, Oct. 15 from 10 am to 4 pm.
The event, sponsored by Dave White Chevrolet and Chevrolet Northwest Ohio Chevy Dealers, will feature on Saturday the Nite Lite Farmers Market sponsored by Sofo’s Italian Market; a cornhole tournament; crafts; music from Pop’s Garage at 7pm and food trucks. Sunday’s lineup includes craft and farmers market vendors, music from North of Nashville at 10:30 am, the Dino Dash at 12:45 pm, the annual parade at 1 pm, and trick or treat following the parade. Annual Pie Baking Contest
Calling all bakers, the Heritage Sylvania annual pie baking contest, sponsored by Durocher’s, will be held during the Sylvania Fall Festival Sunday, Oct. 15. All pie entrees must have a pastry crust and must be made in a disposable pan. Deadline for registration is Oct. 6. Pies are to be dropped off at the Heritage Museum Sunday, Oct. 15 from 8:30 to 9:45 am and picked up from 1 to 3 pm. Prizes will be awarded in all categories.

Annual Scarecrow Contest
Help decorate the Historical Village by creating an original scarecrow. Entries must be family friendly and no taller than 7 feet. Setup will be held Oct. 12 from 3 to 5 pm or Oct. 13 from 3 to 7 pm. Scarecrows will be on display through Oct. 31. Heritage Sylvania will provide contestants with an upright pole and zip ties to secure scarecrows. If support arms are needed, contestants will need to create a cross bar. Signage identifying the organization and entry will also be provided. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
