Angela Christensen of Angela’s Angels Gift Shop, 5774 Main Street, has been doing business in downtown Sylvania for the past 20 years. To celebrate this milestone, Christensen has planned fun events, raffles, specials, and much more for the week of July 15 through July 20. On July 20, shoppers will receive 20 percent off all purchases of $20 or more!
Angels have always been important to Christensen, and they became even more so after her son Nick was killed in an auto accident three years before she opened her shop. Shortly before his death, he had given her an angel for her birthday. “That angel and the memory of that surprising gift continues to be a treasure beyond words,” she recalled. “To believe in angels is to acknowledge that life is more than what we see. It is faith in action.”
With that as a guiding philosophy, Angela’s Angels came into being.
For the past two decades, Christensen has been a beacon of hope to people throughout northwest Ohio, southeast Michigan and beyond. “From the very beginning, the focus of the shop has always been to bring comfort, peace and joy to our customers, to help people work through their grief and assist with their bereavement,” she noted.
“We have evolved into much more,” Christensen reflected. “This has been a magical, mystical journey. As I have grown and learned on my spiritual journey, so has my store. We have the area’s largest selection of crystals and gemstones available along with an ever-changing selection and wide range of inspirational gifts and angels of every description.
One of the growing areas of the business includes concrete statuary, wind chimes, memorial garden stones, benches and many smaller tokens and gifts to convey heartfelt sympathy. “We do deliver to local funeral homes, too,” she pointed out. “Those gifts are tastefully and artfully wrapped complete with appropriate bows and tags thanks to the loving and caring efforts of shop manager Erica Adams,” Christensen reported. “She is just amazing and is always coming up with great ideas to make our customers’ experiences here even better. She is a joy to work with and goes the extra mile whether it be enhancing a gift wrap or coming up with yet another innovative idea such as our large angel wings on the front porch. Not only do they serve as a wonderful piece of outdoor art, they also are a background for people to stand in front for pictures!” Christensen noted.
“We believe in providing great customer service and strive to go above and beyond our customers’ expectations,” Adams offered.
