GAYLEEN GINDY 6006 Main Street
This house was built in 1919 on No. 16 of Parker’s Addition subdivision; a subdivision that included Franklin Street, Long Street, Handy Street and the 6000 block of Main Street. Milton and Delia Vesey owned the property when the house was built. He was a downtown Sylvania merchant, and they built several small houses throughout Sylvania that they used as rentals, including this one. The list of owners is recorded as follows:

This house was a rental from 1919 through 1925. In 1925 Morris Wagonlander purchased the home and was listed living here. The 1930 census lists Morris Wagonlander, head, owned home valued at $5,500, 30 years old, married, manager of a dry goods store, Varie D. Wagonlander, wife 27 years old, Dwight Wagonlander, son, 2 years old, Bonnie Wagonlander, daughter, one month old.
In 1936 Carl Swanson purchased the home and owned it for four years. Records show that he lived here during those years, but by the 1940 census he was living with his brother at 6030 Main St., and renting this house out to A.L. and Dolores Rader, their children Archie and Richard, and a foster sister Betty Gardner. A.L. Rader was a teacher in the public school.
After the 1940 census was taken William Hotchkiss purchased the home and that same year he transferred the house into his daughter’s name, Laura A. Kieffer. She owned the home until 1970 and rented the home the entire time.
The May 22, 1947 issue of the Sylvania Sentinel reported that Mr. Frank Musick of 6006 N. Main St., had taken a position as salesman with the Chandler Hardware Company. The article said that Mr. Musick, who was president of the Boosters Club last year, had been a salesman for the Hills Brothers Coffee Company since the war’s end. Prior to the war, he had been employed at the Auto-Lite.
The June 19, 1958 issue of the Sylvania Sentinel reported that Bernice Musick of 6606 Main St., a teacher at Sylvania Burnham High School, received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Toledo on June 14. According to Suburban Directories, which they started publishing in 1957, Frank and Bernice Musick are listed renting the house through the 1963 Directory.
The 1964 Directory listed Terry Semones renting the home through the 1968 Directory. The 1969 Directory shows Larry Kissel was renting the home. In 1970 Larry and Barbara purchased the home, but then sold it to Robert and Pearl Stanton that same year. Bill Patterson rented the home until in 1974 when James and Pamela Stanton purchased it. From then until the current time, the directories show that the home was occupied by the homeowners listed.
