At its Nov. 4 regular meeting, Sylvania City Council voted unanimously to enter into a memorandum of understanding with The Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments to be part of the 2025 Keep Streams Clean mass media campaign. The city of Sylvania’s financial obligation is $871.81 for the $30,000 project.
Council approved city of Sylvania’s Service Director Joe Shaw’s requests to enter into an agreement with ODOT regarding federal funding and to accept the proposal of  DGL Consulting Engineers for engineering services for the Sylvania Schools Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon project.
Council also granted Shaw’s request to purchase permanent and temporary right-of-way property for $20,255 on the south side of Monroe Street from Fairways at Sylvania Condominiums for the Monroe Street Traffic Signal Improvement Project.
Shaw’s recommendation to assist a property owner with the removal of two trees deemed a safety hazard was approved. The cost for the removal will be added to the property owner’s tax bill to be paid over the next five years.
In other business, council agreed to refer a zoning change request from R-1 to R-2 with a Planned Development overlay for 4713 King Rd. property to the Municipal Planning Commission.
