BZA ruling

The Sylvania Township Board of Zoning Appeals ruled to uphold the zoning violation issued to Marc and Terri Losek, who have farm animals on their Shetland Road property, at the March 2 meeting.

New police officers

Sylvania Township Police Chief Sarah Toth introduced new police officers Ryan Westerbeck and Jacob Dunnett to the Sylvania Township Trustees at the March 3 meeting before performing their swearing-in ceremony.

New purchases

The Board of Township Trustees authorized Road Superintendent Rob Nash to purchase a 2027 HV607 Truck Chassis from Rush Truck Centers Inc. for $105,546 and accessories from Kalida Truck & Equipment for $164,700.00.

Owner representative

The trustees approved Township Administrator Oliver Turner’s request to accept the proposal for Miller Diversified to serve as the owner representative to provide additional oversight and project management services not to exceed $145,450 to protect the township’s interests during the construction of the new Road & Service Department facility and grounds at 3750 Silica Rd.

Easement agreement

It was brought to the trustees’ attention that, during a review of the new training tower project at  8210 West Sylvania Ave., it was found that easement agreements with adjacent property owners would be needed for the project to move forward. The trustees authorized Turner to enter into an easement agreement with Champion Concrete Supply Company, Inc.

The next Board of Sylvania Township Trustees will be on March 17 at 5 pm.
