YMCA Adult Health & Resource Fair

The Francis Family YMCA in Temperance will host their 4th Annual Active Older Adult Health & Resource Fair on Thursday, September 10th from 9m-1pm. This premier event for area seniors is free and open to the public. Positioned uniquely within the YMCA of Greater Toledo organization near the state line, the Francis YMCA services both Michigan and Ohio residents. The Fair will highlight 40+ vendors offering information about resources and services in Monroe and Lucas counties. This year’s event will feature a free pancake breakfast. Health checks such as blood pressure, walker/cane checks, drug and syringe disposal and others will be available. In addition there will be a huge raffle, Kindness Rock painting, bubble art performances, cardio drumming and Silver Sneakers yoga demos, a craft swap, bake sale, and other fun activities. “Our goal is to offer not just an educational opportunity but also a fun and highly social event. Two of the greatest detriments to our senior population are isolation and a lack of reliable information. This event is designed to bring community resources for those in their golden years together in a safe and fun environment”, stated Francis Y’s Active Older Adult Coordinator, Tami Murry. “We are very fortunate to have so many community partners who come together for this event and make it successful. This year we’ve had a record number of sponsorships, which is so heartwarming as it allows us to reach more, do more, make a bigger difference.” The Francis Family YMCA is honored to have the support of our gold sponsors for this event: Rudolph Insurance, The Bedford Senior Center, ComForCare, Seacrest Rehab & Nursing, Fleet Feet Toledo, Mercy Health Community Health Workers, American Senior Benefits,  Monroe County Opportunity Program,  Lakes of Sylvania, and Oasis Mediterranean/Good Hummus. Those who would like to contribute to the craft swap may drop off donations prior to the event at the Francis Family YMCA at 2000 W. Dean Road on Tues. & Wed. Sept. 8 & 9 or bring them day of. The bake sale will be cash only and supports Francis Family YMCA’s annual financial assistance campaign. The drug disposal is for pills only and will not take creams or liquids and used syringes should be brought in a puncture-resistant, leak proof container for safe disposal.
