Star Spangled celebration planned for Centennial Terrace

Sylvania’s “Star Spangled Celebration” will be held Monday, July 3 from 7 to 11 pm at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd.

Fifth annual Rowing to Remember raises money for Alzheimer’s

The fifth annual Rowing to Remember will be held on Friday, June 16 at Forest View Lanes, 2345 Dean Rd., Temperance, Mich.
Event organizer Chris Heerdegen will row from 6 am to 10 pm, completing 72 miles to raise money for Alzheimer’s Disease research. He will be joined by team members and others during the day. In addition, a volleyball tournament will be held on site. Bowling from 10 am to 10 pm is available. Guests may rent lanes in 90 minute blocks. TNC regulars make J&G their Thursday night destination

For the past 50 years, or maybe 49, a group of anywhere between two and 12 men get together at J&G’s Pizza Palace for TNC, or Thursday Night Club. They gather at the long table in the back, unless it’s taken by someone else, have an Upside beer or two, and order the “usual.” Their menu items most always include gyros and pizza with pepperoni, onions, ground beef, and peppers, well done with small cuts. “Occasionally, we change it up but not often,” they chuckled. Ribbon cut to open Tom Falvey Expo

Clint McCormick, race director, Glass City Marathon, Terri Kirtos, president, Toledo Roadrunners Club, Bob Baxter, president, Mercy Health – Toledo, George Rehmet, president, Road Runners Club of America, and Tara Linker, community relations, Mercy Health, cut the ribbon on April 21 to open the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon Tom Falvey Health & Wellness Expo in celebration of its new location due to the growth and expansion over an eight year partnership with Mercy Health. Forté Music School hits high note

Thanks to the universal language of music, Virgil Lupu, an accomplished violinist, and world-traveled musician, calls northwest Ohio home. Born in Romania in a family of musicians where music was part of everyday life, Lupu started learning music at the age of 5 in a music-focused kindergarten. He began playing the violin at the age of 7. Many dedicated hours of practicing the violin followed and, at the age of 15, he started traveling the world playing music on major stages and sharing his love for music.
