Stakeholder meeting to be held

Downtown Sylvania stakeholders and interested citizens are invited to attend an initial stakeholder meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 7 pm in City Council chambers to talk about downtown revitalization.

According to Sylvania’s Director of Public Service, Kevin Aller, P.E., members of the city administration are eager to learn about the needs and understand the vision of downtown stakeholders and members of the community. “There are many aspects of the project beyond the traditional road and utility work that will need to be considered,” Aller noted. “That includes access, transportation, event infrastructure, parking, aesthetics, seating, and branding. We hope that by listening to members of the community at this point, we can incorporate as many common interests into the plan that will be used for the final design.”

Members of city administration and the design team of DGL Consulting Engineers, EDGE, and JDRM Engineering will facilitate the discussion, share exhibits, and encourage public comments.

The last downtown revitalization effort was implemented on Main Street between Monroe Street and Maplewood Avenue in 1983. Decorative street lights were extended from Maplewood Avenue to Erie Street in 1987.
