Police promotion

The Sylvania Township Trustees approved the promotion of Benjamin Bostater to the Sergeant of the Sylvania Township Police Department. Following his swearing-in, administered by Police Chief Sarah Toth, his fiancee Claire Irwin pinned on his Sergeant badge.
New vehicle purchases
Chief Toth also presented a request as part of the department’s capital plan to purchase three 2025 Ford Utility Police Interceptor utility vehicles not to exceed $188,511. The trustees also agreed to acquire a 2025 Ford Utility Police Interceptor for the chief, not exceeding $44,934.
JEDD member appointed
Sylvania Township Administrator Oliver Turner introduced Grant Robinson, one of two applicants for the open Worker Member seat on the Joint Economic Development District. The trustees approved his appointment for the term to run through August 2028.
Turner was also authorized to hire a staff accountant and an accounts payable support specialist.
In other business, the trustees approved the 2025 funding for local agencies: Sylvania Area Family Services will receive $20,000; Sylvania Prevention Alliance, $8,750;  Sylvania Arts,$3,000; and the Lucas Soil and Water, $1,500.
Mid-month meeting
The next meeting of the Board of Sylvania Township Trustees will be held on Feb. 18 at 5 pm in the Sylvania Township Trustee Hall, 4927 N. Holland Sylvania Rd. Meetings are open to the public.
