New hires
The Sylvania Township Trustees authorized Fire Chief Chris Nye to offer full-time employment to Jonah Babcock, Michael Bronson, Nataley Smith, Lola Thompson, and Michael Tolles to fill the vacancies created due to recent and future retirements or job transitions. The new hires will comply with the department’s levy pledge to add additional personnel, bringing the total to at least 72 career full-time employees. The hiring of the six recruits will be contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background check and the Sylvania Fire/EMS Recruit School. Chief Nye was also given approval to hire Jenna Alspach as the Fire Compliance Coordinator, contingent upon the successful background check.

She will represent the Sylvania Township Board of Trustees for matters regarding Joint Economic Development Districts at the hourly rate of $190 for an amount not to exceed $3,500.
