Township talk …

Letters to Santa
Once again, Santa has requested that a special mailbox be made available for all children in Sylvania Township to send their letters to him. Township elves have put the mailbox in the front entrance of Sylvania Township Hall, 4927 N. Holland Sylvania Rd., and will collect the mail for express delivery to the North Pole until Sunday, Dec. 14. “Be sure to include your name and address to get a special reply from Santa!” the elves said.
Border Battle
While it was a close race, the University of Michigan Wolverine side of the collection table held the larger amount of donated food items, easing out rival Ohio State University Buckeye donors. While the team from “Up North” is victorious, the big winner is the Sylvania Area Family Services food bank, benefitting the many people who are in need in the community.

Distinguished Citizen Award
The Sylvania Township Trustees would like to recognize unsung community heroes with the Distinguished Citizen Service Award. The award highlights those volunteers who have given of themselves for the betterment of the community and their fellow citizens.
The award is designed to honor residents of Sylvania and the Township whose voluntary efforts have improved the community, but have largely been undertaken quietly and without recognition.
This award specifically excludes elected officials from consideration or anyone who may have already been honored by the naming of a street, park, or other public space.
Anyone from Sylvania Township or the city of Sylvania who would like to nominate a person to be considered for the honor may email the information to Oliver Turner, Sylvania Township Administrator by Jan. 15, 2026 at oturner@sylvaniatownship.com, mail, or drop off nominations at the Sylvania Township Administration Building, 4927 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd.
