The City Beat – SV soccer stars honored

Mayor Craig Stough began the agenda of the Dec. 5 meeting of Sylvania City Council by offering a proclamation declaring Dec. 5  as Tyler Pawlicki Day and Dec. 6 as Carys Bourbeau Day. The two Southview seniors were each named to OHSAA All-Ohio First Teams, All-District First Teams, and Northern Lakes League First Teams for boys and girls soccer, respectively. Cougar Pride awards are back

Lunch took on an additional flavor in the Southview cafeteria on Friday Sept. 30. Between 20 to 30 students were honored with Cougar Pride awards in each of the three lunch periods and several students won prizes. Those gifts included rewards such as a first place in the lunch line, a prime parking spot for a month, tickets to the upcoming theater production, gift cards and more. Clean Up 419 beautifies Sylvania

Alex Eichner, Ben Graalman, and Connor Radkov are on a mission to clean up the 419, and they’re beginning with Sylvania. The trio, students at Sylvania Southview High School, started a club at their school after seeing a pile of trash by the road. Radkov recalled, “In April, Alex, Ben and I were driving along Centennial Road and saw a big pile of trash. A few days later we noticed it was still there. The third time we drove by the unsightly pile, we pulled over and picked it up. It was then that we noticed there was trash all the way down Centennial Road so we decided to pick that up too.
