Local breweries give back at ‘On Tap and UnCorked’

Upside Brewing, located in downtown Sylvania, is “On Tap” to give back to the community by being part of the On Tap and Uncorked event. The brewery has been open six years and continues to grow its following. What started as a home brewing hobby has led to one of the favorite must-visit destinations in Sylvania.

Local organizations come together to assist victims of fire

Sylvania area partners are working together to assist residents of the Hunt Club Apartments, located at 5600 W. Alexis Rd., who were affected by a July 15 fire. Over 60 apartments were involved and 48 were destroyed.

Karen S. Smith of neighborhood bridges Sylvania met with SAFS Executive Director Dottie Segur to discuss the victims needs along with the benefits and efficiency of care that could be provided if local organizations worked together. SAFS to distribute backpacks

Sylvania Area Family Services will host its Back 2 School backpack and school supply distribution event on Aug. 6 at SAFS, 5440 Marshall Rd.

Students who are registered with the Sylvania School District and have pre-registered with the SAFS will be eligible to receive a backpack filled with school supplies. Families may come into the facility and enjoy hotdogs, ice cream and refreshments as students select a preassembled backpack appropriate for their age. Continue reading SAFS to distribute backpacks
